Audrey’s Glass Half-Full

Hello!

My name is Audrey, and I am the co-founder of Glass Half Full Functional Mocktails. I am so excited to share this journey of bringing purposeful mocktails to the community and beyond, and I hope you enjoy a glimpse into the day-to-day activities here on the Blog!

I intend to expound on the meaning of choosing to life live with the perspective of a ‘glass half full.’ This mindset and lifestyle are considered each time Jenna and I meet to discuss new mocktail recipes, right before we post to social media, and certainly during every gathering for our classes! Having this perspective allows us to offer a greater value to our customers because we don’t just provide a class or product -  we offer an invitation to a life that is lived well.

With that being said, allow me to introduce myself and how I choose to perceive my life as a ‘glass half full.’

I was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. In the early 2000s, this was the quintessential suburban lifestyle, complete with the rat-race mindset and the cutthroat social hierarchy that impacted both professionals and kids on the playground. In short, life was lived with an outward perspective that relied heavily on other’s perceptions of you. It was ROUGH.

Thankfully, my incredible parents moved me and my two sisters to our favorite vacation spot - Hilton Head Island, S.C. It was here that we finally felt a sense of peace and found out how to live life on ‘island time.’ Locals would ride their bikes to the local French bakery for cappuccinos instead of sitting in a 10-car deep drive-thru line for their sugar-fied Starbucks coffee. People would watch the sunset on the beach instead of watching reality TV on their recliners. The more acclimated my family and I got to breathing the salty air and watching the dolphins, the more we understood that life is short and choosing to live life slowly is imperative.

From then on, my mindset and perspective on life have always been rooted in optimism and joy. This intentional effort has changed my life and allowed me to spread kindness, love, patience, and joy to those around me.

It has also impacted the way I perceive myself! If I put effort into perceiving how good life is and how each day is full of blessings and joys, it would be hypocritical to hold myself to a standard that is against those expectations. Having grace when I am low energy, beginning each day with a prayer of gratitude that my body is healthy and moving, and approaching food with a high standard of pure nutrients, ethical farming, and allowing nothing to go to waste is my motto.

I speak about my way of life because I want everyone to have the opportunity to experience life this way. Living slowly, enjoying every moment, finding the good, and perceiving every situation with the ‘glass half full’ perspective can truly impact your lifestyle, health, and vitality.

My hope for Glass Half Full Functional Mocktails is to allow this lifestyle and perspective to impact more than just the Charleston community. We would love to see more than just functional mocktails, but truly functional living! What if people perceived their lives as an opportunity to analyze each ingredient - relationships, health, lifestyle, jobs, etc. - and work to have each aspect provide wellness and vitality to each day of their lives? What if we lived intentionally functional? What if?

It is my goal to try my best to live this way with each of you, as we begin with functional mocktails and move to functional lifestyles. This could be a revolution, not just an interest or hobby. This could be a real change, one that could yield not just tasty mocktails but vibrant lives filled with healthy and happy people. Who wants to cheers to that?!
